How to use the call pickup feature

Getting Started

The call pickup feature on our Multi User VoIP service allows you to answer a call which is ringing on another extension. This is useful if someone is not sat at their desk and you wish to answer the call.

Basic Configuration

In order to enable call pickup, in the control panel click on Pickup Groups, click the Group and tick all the extensions that you would like to be able to be picked up by other extensions. Then tick all the extensions that you would like to be able to pick up those calls and then click Save.

Using the feature
When another extension is ringing, simply dial *8 to answer the call.

For the call pickup to work, both extensions must have the call pickup feature enabled.

Advanced Configuration
The call pickup feature is currently a simple feature, and doesn’t allow you to set up advanced configurations. For example, you are unable to specify that an extension (for example, a manager’s) can only be picked up by a certain other extensions (for example, by a PA).

Similarly, you cannot set up groups (for example, sales and support) that can only use call pickup within their group.

This is a global on/off setting that will enable any extensions with the feature enabled to answer any other extension that is ringing.

In the future, we may extend functionality to include extra settings, and if this happens we will update this guide accordingly.
