SIP TAPI

Some really useful open source software to add TAPI facilities (particularly Click-to-Dial) to your SIP phone setup is available here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/siptapi/

SIP TAPI is useful for click to dial from Outlook or any other TAPI compliant software. It works with the Windows Dialer. You can use it to dial out through IP desktop phones or even softphones on your PC.

A short SIPTAPI installation tutorial …..

(Note: For better debugging the binaries are usually built
in “Debug” mode, and thus write a log file to c:\siptapi_0.2.log)

On 32bit Windows
=================
1. Copy siptapi.tsp from x86 folder into your Windows system32 directory
(usually C:\Windows\System32)
2. Install and configure SIPTAPI using the telephony options from control panel

On 64bit Windows
=================
1. Copy siptapi.tsp from x64 folder into your Windows system32 directory
(usually C:\Windows\System32). This gives you full TAPI support with 64 and 32bit
TAPI applications
2. If you want to configure SIPTAPI not only from the telephony control panel and from
64bit applications, but also from 32bit applications, copy the 32bit siptapi.tsp from
x86 folder into your WoW64 directory (usually C:\Windows\SysWow64)
3. Restart your PC for SIPTAPI to show up in your list of TAPI providers.
4. Install and configure SIPTAPI using the telephony options from control panel

IP Desktop Phone Configuration:
1. Configure via the control panel: Start -> ControlPanel -> PhoneAndModemOptions -> Advanced -> Configure
- SIP domain: the domain of your SIP URI
- Outbound Proxy: the IP address or domain of the OBP
- username: the SIP username of your SIP URI
- password: the SIP password The SIP TAPI does not support for NAT traversal. Thus, you must register to a SIP proxy which does the NAT traversal, or use a dedicated outbound proxy. For example, if your SIP URI is sip:15990@fwd.pulver.com and you are behinod NAT, configure the TAPI:
SIP domain: fwd.pulver.com
outbound proxy: fwdnat.pulver.com:5082;lr
user: 15990
password: guess what Note: If you do not need an outboundproxy, leave this field empty. If you specify an outboundproxy make sure to add the “;lr” parameter (without “”). 2. Configure your TAPI application to use the SIP TAPI

Softphone Configuration:
If you have a softphone (i.e. SJphone) already setup with your VoIP account configured. Simply configure SIPTAPI with the SIP domain of: 127.0.0.1 and leave the other fields blank.

Here’s a screen shot of how a SIPTAPI configuration can look when used with a Grandstream GXP2000:
